Joseph Smith never taught about a “Mother in Heaven.” But Subsequent Church leaders have affirmed the existence of a Mother in Heaven.
Latter-day Saints believe the, human race lived in a premortal existence with Heavenly Parents and that all people are begotten spirit children of God.
I think the reason the church came out with the essays at that time was because convert rates in the LDS Church had been declining greatly while a steady stream of members are leaving the faith.
I’m not sure these essays are designed to restore people’s faith as much as they are designed to prevent people from leaving the church.
The Latter-Day Saints believe that Jesus is our Elder – spirit brother.

Mormons teach that because Paul mentions baptism for the dead it should be an endorsement for this sacred ordinance.

The LDS teach that after the death of Jesus, wicked people killed the Apostles. And with their death, priesthood keys were taken from the earth. Over time the doctrines were corrupted, and changes were made in church organization and ordinances.
Is the LDS church the only true church? What does the Bible say about this?
LDS members are called into tithing settlement at the end of the year to meet with their Bishop and be reminded to settle any unpaid tithes.
