I think the reason the church came out with the essays at that time was because convert rates in the LDS Church had been declining greatly while a steady stream of members are leaving the faith.
I’m not sure these essays are designed to restore people’s faith as much as they are designed to prevent people from leaving the church.
Contrary to what Latter-day Saint leaders have taught – the cross is far more than just the instrument of death the Romans used to kill the physical body of Jesus. It plays a significant role in the salvation of all who choose to follow Jesus.
When someone puts their faith in Jesus, his death on the cross pays the penalty due for our sins. Our sins are placed on Jesus as the righteousness of Jesus is credited to us. His death on the cross paid the penalty for our sins – ALL of them!
Why do most Mormons have an aversion toward the cross as a Christian symbol?
The Latter-Day Saints believe that Jesus is our Elder – spirit brother.
The LDS believe that Jehovah created all things. But, Heavenly Father created Jesus, Satan, and all of us.
If all humans, Mary included, are literally God’s spirit children, born in a preexistence via a sexual relationship between Heavenly Father and Mother in Heaven. If God physically impregnated Mary, then the Jesus of Mormonism was created through an incestuous relationship.
Why would Jesus instruct Joseph Smith in 1830 to call it the “Church of Christ”, then change it in 1834 to the “Church of Latter Day Saints” and, then change once again in 1838? Why wouldn’t Jesus get it right the first time? Why would He take the name of Christ completely out of the name of the church for four whole years?
it seems that it took a while for the Mormon Church to settle on an official title for its name. Did you know that it had a least three different names over an eight-year period?
Mormons teach that because Paul mentions baptism for the dead it should be an endorsement for this sacred ordinance.
The Mormon Church is creating a special category for the children of gay parents. It appears to many that this restrictive policy is very un-Christ-like. How would Jesus have handled this situation?
