The LDS teach that these verses are speaking of two sticks which are the Bible or the stick of Judah, and the Book of Mormon or the stick of Joseph. They believe these two records have now been joined together, constituting a complete fulfillment of a great prophecy spoken of in 2 Nephi 3:12.
LDS teach that Isaiah 29:1-4 is predicting the coming of the Book of Mormon, which was translated from plates hidden in the ground by Moroni – coming as it did “out of the ground” to “whisper out of the dust” to people of our day.
God is not dealing with us in the physical – He is dealing with us in the spiritual. We are free from the law of religion, because we have the Holy Spirit. If we are led by the Holy Spirit, we do not need to subject ourselves to the regulations of the flesh.
“Joseph Smith would put the seer stone into a hat, and put his face in the hat, drawing it closely around his face … A piece of something resembling parchment would appear… One character at a time would appear, …, then it would disappear, and another character with the interpretation would appear, Thus the Book of Mormons was translated by the gift and power of God, and not by any power of man.”
During early LDS meetings the men would spit nasty tobacco juices on the floor. After words, Joseph’s wife Emma had to clean the dirty floor boards. She was so disgusted that she asked her husband to do something about it. Her complaints led the Prophet to ask God whether tobacco use was appropriate for Latter-day Saints. And the Lord’s response came in the form of a revelation that covered far more than just tobacco. It also restricted the consumption of wine, liquor, meat, and hot drinks.
The LDS Scriptures teach that the Apostle John never died? And that he was permitted to live on earth without tasting death until Christ’s return?
The LDS teach that after the death of Jesus, wicked people killed the Apostles. And with their death, priesthood keys were taken from the earth. Over time the doctrines were corrupted, and changes were made in church organization and ordinances.
Latter-day Saints believe that because families are ordained of God, they are the most important social unit in time and in eternity. What does the Bible say about that?
If Families are essential in Heaven, as taught by the LDS, then how did Jesus become exalted as God in the Mormon “preexistence” without being married?
Is the LDS church the only true church? What does the Bible say about this?
